more on white sheets: tainted love

{ french toast, topped with banana and a silky berry sauce }

the most peaceful moment of the week.
i find safety in the dull white of these weekend mornings.

oh,
lazy wintry sunday morning in bed,
the struggle between me and the coziness of it,
mentally scrolling through a hoard of breakfast ideas,
seeking the perfect balance between lazy and decadent,
- considering whatever I imagine is still left in my fridge and pantry -
finally getting the nerve to go whip it up...
only to return right back to a whiteness of sheets and pillows,
with a nice film by my side.

French Toast topped with Banana and a Silky Berry Sauce
for absolutely sinful mornings

2 big slices of wholewheat bread, which should be consistend but still spongy, halved

batter:
1/3 cup flour, sifted
1 scant tbsp sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 egg

berry sauce:
125g berries
2 scant tbsp sugar
2 scant tbsp flour
juice of one orange

1 banana
15g butter
confectioners' sugar, for dusting

Mix all the ingredients for the sauce: berries, sugar, flour and orange juice; simmer over medium heat, stirring ocasionally,
Prepare the batter, beating the flour and sugar with the egg and milk,
Pour into a deep dish and soak the bread on both sides for a couple of minutes,
Heat the butter in a pan over hot heat, fry the slices one at a time on both sides, until golden,
Meanwhile, slice the banana,
Remove the bread from the pan to a serving dish, top with the sliced banana and berry sauce, dust with some confectioners' sugar and serve immediately.
